In early reporting, Haim Weissberg is mentioned as the leader of the operation at Shura Military Morgue. This likely means he was leading the processing of military casualties, as mentioned in a quote in Michal Levin Elad’s profile:

Michal Levin Elad

[Elad’s] unit is in charge of identifying civilians at Shura’s makeshift morgue, constructed out of refrigerated shipping containers. The military runs a parallel process for soldiers.

Here, the Israel Defense Forces Rabbinate is trying to identify the bodies - in many cases just body parts - to give families the opportunity to bury their loved ones as quickly as possible, as Jewish custom requires. Too much time has already passed after the rite, although dozens of volunteers work here around the clock.

The reason for this becomes clear when the leader, military rabbi Colonel Haim Weissberg, points to a shelf in the opened container. There are white and black body bags inside. A smaller one is blue. “There are either children or parts of mutilated bodies in the small bags,” says Weissberg.

Debunked Claims of Pregnant Woman Being Killed

Haim also appears in the same Daily Mail article as Moshe Melayev, where he repeats a debunked lie about a pregnant woman having a fetus cut out of her by Hamas fighters:

Horrific details of Hamas massacre emerge

Colonel Haim Weissberg, whose job is to identify the bodies of the victims of Israel's worst massacre, said he had seen babies with their heads chopped off, soldiers and civilians whose genitals had been cut off as well as women who were raped.

'They filed [sic] a pregnant women, a terrorist arrives, he disembowels her, takes out the foetus, and in front of her, he comes out and massacres the baby before killing her,' Weisberg told a delegation of Jewish community leaders from France at the Shura military base.

'Everything is filmed. Babies whose heads were decapitated, soldiers whose genitals were cut off, small and elderly women were raped,' Weisberg added.

The Shura military base near Tel Aviv has been turned into a huge morgue, where the Israeli Defence Force's Rabbinate corps and volunteers are working to identify the mutilated bodies they are pulling out of a countless stream of body bags.

'In most case, we have had to identify people via deep tissue DNA or dental records because there is nothing left. And we are still getting bodies, last night we received an additional 73 body parts.'

However, there are only two very young children that died during the October 7th attacks according to Haaretz. Only one of them was unborn and died in completely different circumstances, showing this definitively did not happen.

Ten-month-old Mila Cohen was murdered in the massacre, along with the baby still in the womb of her mother who died after her mother was shot on the way to hospital. The police have no evidence showing that other babies were killed.
